Computer Virus Protection is a major hot issue with me.
CyberDefender gets good ratings from all the sites I visit, and if you're not running something, then you need to check them out, because there are about a billion things that can break your computer lurking out there. Even with an antivirus program, I constantly have to remove spyware and other threats from my dad's computer, though it's usually only spyware and not malware, thank god. Every day, new exploits for different versions of Windows are released, and even a few for Macs, and I cannot stress how important protection is, especially if you shop online or use your computer for any important work. Even if you just use it for personal reasons and store your photos on there, you don't want to lose that data. It just makes no sense, and you need to go with a good company instead of cheaping out on something this important. Believe me, having several hacker exes, I have had my share of attacks and laptops that had to have an operating system installed clean after formatting the hard drive. It isn't something you want to deal with, and it isn't something you're even prepared to deal with unless you're a tech person like me.
